The Challenge

The Sheffield Advocacy Hub had a compelling purpose and dedicated team, but no established brand presence. Without a recognisable logo or supporting materials, it was difficult for audiences to identify or remember the service, particularly in a sector where trust, clarity, and accessibility are vital.

Given that the Hub operates as part of Citizens Advice Sheffield, it was also essential that any new branding complimented the Citizens Advice visual identity in terms of tone, colour, and presentation. The team wanted something that felt fresh and distinct yet didn’t deviate too far from the parent organisation’s look and feel.

The branding would need to appeal to a broad, diverse audience, including people accessing advocacy for the first time, those with accessibility needs, and professionals making referrals. With a tight turnaround to produce a suite of launch materials ahead of a public event and service outreach, there was little room for delay.

What We Did

The project began with a discovery session involving key stakeholders from the Sheffield Advocacy Hub and Citizens Advice Sheffield. This session helped us understand the service’s values, goals, and audience, particularly their emphasis on empowerment, clarity, and approachable support. We also explored how the brand could reflect Sheffield’s local character while remaining professional and trustworthy.

Using insights from the discovery session, our design team developed a range of logo concepts, each exploring different visual approaches to represent advocacy, support, community, and voice. Some played with iconography symbolising guidance or speaking out; others incorporated subtle nods to Sheffield’s identity and inclusive design principles.

From these initial concepts, we worked collaboratively with the Hub’s team to refine and finalise a logo that felt warm, human, and recognisable, while remaining accessible and legible across different formats. Once the final design was approved, we built out a brand toolkit that used complementary fonts, colours, and layouts designed to sit naturally alongside Citizens Advice materials.

With the brand in place, we created a suite of marketing and outreach materials for launch, including banners and flyers including editable templates. To support long-term usability and adaptability, we delivered key print pieces in Canva-ready formats, allowing the team to easily update content, translate text, and repurpose layouts as their services expand or evolve.

Given the tight deadline, these materials were prioritised and delivered in line with the launch of the new website and the accompanying public outreach event. This event was a key moment for the service to connect with stakeholders and members of the public, and the branded assets played a vital role in presenting a unified, professional identity.

As a finishing touch, we helped the team source and deliver branded party favours for the launch, small packets of seeds, symbolising growth, empowerment, and community care. These on-theme tokens added a memorable and thoughtful element to the event, helping reinforce the Hub’s values and new visual identity.

The Result

The new Sheffield Advocacy Hub brand was launched successfully in conjunction with the new website and public outreach campaign.

The accompanying materials have provided the team with a flexible and practical toolkit to support both in-person engagement and digital communications. With Canva-editable templates, the Hub can now update its leaflets, posters, and banners internally, supporting ongoing accessibility, language translation, and community outreach without relying on external design support for every change.

The branded seed favours were well received at the launch event, reinforcing the themes of growth, support, and care that lie at the heart of the advocacy service. Overall, the new brand has helped establish the Sheffield Advocacy Hub as a visible, trusted, and distinctive part of Sheffield’s support landscape.

By combining strategy, design, and practical rollout, this project has given the Hub a strong foundation to build from, enabling them to continue their vital work with confidence, clarity, and a renewed sense of identity.
